A Short Tour Of Voice Media

What is Voice Media?

Voice Media (VM) is the brainchild of the same team who also publishes eLocal. eLocal is monthly free magazine that has been printed and distributed throughout Franklin and Papakura in Auckland for many years, and reached approx 250,000 people. Due to paper supply shortage and massive increases in paper and printing costs, in April 2023 eLocal became a digital-only magazine. eLocal and Voice Media are two of only a few truly independent media outlets in New Zealand.

In 2017-18 this team developed a high-quality glossy monthly publication 'New Zealand Voice', self-funded by advertising, and supporting freedom of speech. Due to on-going challenges in distributing independent publications (it really is VERY hard to survive within this controlled media landscape), New Zealand Voice ceased publication in 2018.

This team don't give up easily, and went on to develop Voice Media as an online platform to share facts, truth, opinion that has been censored on mainstream channels.

Voice Media is a free speech media platform, that brings many channels together under one 'roof'.

The result is a wonderful user experience, as it reduces the need to subscribe to many difference groups, platforms, blogs and channels elsewhere.

Why Voice Media?

Each day, more and more kiwi's are realising that our nation's mainstream media is one-sided, and sorely lacking in journalistic integrity. Our mainstream media agencies are privately funded and controlled. They only share what suits their narrative... and are not covering the 'full story' on what's really happening here and overseas.

'Real news' is severely restricted here in NZ... and it doesn't seem like the solution will come within those main channels.

And so, we must look outside of TVNZ, TV3, The New Zealand Herald, Stuff, (Mediaworks and NZME). They are all the same beasty, with different coloured lipstick, all funded centrally by NZ on Air (Govt control). Follow the money, and you'll see.

Why should I subscribe to VM?

If we as a people want true journalistic news, we must do it ourselves. The VM team have done just that.

And so now, it's our time to show up and support them. If we want independent, reliable and factual news... we will need to help finance it, and get in and support those channels who are present here. Otherwise, we'll keep getting what we've currently got.

So, please watch the quick tour video here and see how supporting Voice Media is also supporting a range of independent channels (more of which are joining all the time).

What content will I find on Voice Media?

Independent Channels are the basis of content available on VM. Each channel owner has the freedom to post their own content, there is no centralised 'Editor' who is deciding what content is published and how it is edited. Free speech! Self-managing content!

As a subscriber, you choose which channels you want to follow and support. So your news feed is curated by your own choices. On each channel you can communicate with the channel owner, and comment on their content.

  • Subscribe to Voice Media here - it's $15 a month or $120 for 12 months. That's less than the cost of one coffee a week. For independent media. Using this link helps me to keep spreading the word - so THANK YOU.
